Does SMU have a tuition payment plan?
SMU offers payment plans for the fall, spring, and summer terms. Please refer to Payment Plan Options on the Student Financial Services’ website for detailed information.
What methods of payment are accepted?
Starting summer 2025 SMU is moving to no cash payments for account charges. You may pay your charges with electronic check (E-check), credit card, personal paper check, cashier's check, money order, traveler's check, or wire funds. SMU provides a secure payment website for online transactions.
What credit cards are accepted?
SMU accepts VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Credit card payments are processed through Flywire with a service-charge fee assessed for each transaction. The service-charge fee is 2.75% on the amount paid for US based debit/credit cards and 3.95% for international card transactions on the amount paid. The 3.95% service fee for non-US cards is subject to change, should this occur a notice will be provided 30-days in advance.
When are payments due?
Payment for tuition, general student fees, on-campus room and board, and any optional fees are due prior to start date of each term. These dates are available on the SMU Student Financial Services website.
